Appraise yourself

Year end is around the corner. After 2 months of maternity leave, which full of tiring, not enough sleep & bermalas malasan tak buat kerja rumah dengan alasan nak tidurkan baby..come back to work.....1st email i received from my boss is “Year End Appraisal Form”. Best part, increment is in the airrrrrrrrrr-smell it smell it...eemmmmmhaaaaaa. Sad part, you get less than you expected! Sad bertukar SADIS!

Malas part is to fill in the appraisal form. It’s not easy to spice up the forms with grace & diplomacy words that will make the boss cry when he read it & buta2 tutup mata bagi increment tinggi2.....derrrrr. Susahnya nak fikir apa nak tulis ni sebab, written appraisal & actual performance tak sama biasanya. How to jive in? Boss perceptions might be different with our own. Let say, you claim yourself hardworking, so you do overtime almost everyday, sabtu ahad sekali. But, for the boss, he might think you are slow, need to take 24 7 to finish work that other person can do for 5 days X 8 hours. the How to toot my own horn?

It’s been 2 days since i received the form & it still blank. The submission is this Friday. The reason why it still blank is, my mind will automatically become blank everytime i take the form from my drawer. What i do is only read the header & put back inside drawer. I remember in my previous company, my boss returned the form with reason i’m not fill in accordingly as what the form want. She added “i don’t read novel, neither bulleted nor essay. So please don’t give me 1”.

Settle review dah. Here 1 tip. For the rating, don’t shy to put high marks, because the appraiser will cut it down. If you already grade yourself low, later the boss cut it some more, how much marks left for you...hehe...lucky, i found this earlier.
